Sign Standards

The purpose of the Nolensville Zoning Ordinance Sign Standards is to establish a comprehensive scheme for the regulation of Signs in the Town. More specifically, Section 7.1.1  is intended to address aesthetic, traffic safety, and property value concerns for the benefit of the public health, safety and welfare, while allowing the use of Signs as a medium for conveying messages.

Permanent Sign Permit Application

Sign Application Process
Step 1. Check Requirements
Review the list of signs that do NOT require a permit. All other signs require a permit. 

Step 2. Complete an Application
If necessary, complete a Permanent Sign Permit Application.  Each Application for a Sign Permit shall be accompanied by a fully dimensioned Sign Plan that reflects that such Sign, the method and means of its installation, its type, and its location on the applicable building or lot.  The signs must comply with all applicable standards and requirements of this Ordinance, together with such other information as may be necessary to determine and provide for the enforcement of 7.1.1 Sign Standards.

Step 3. Submit an Application

Step 4. Staff Review
Staff will review the application to ensure compliance with all sign standards.  If there is an issue, staff will contact you to discuss how to modify the sign for compliance.  If the application is approved, a permit number will be issued and you will be contacted for payment.  The fee for a sign permit it $50 plus $50 for each sign included in the request.
